SCG Empowers Filipino Youth Through 17 Years of “Sharing the Dream”

For nearly two decades, SCG’s “Sharing the Dream” program has been transforming lives by investing in education and nurturing the potential of young Filipinos. What started in 2008 as a scholarship initiative has grown into a symbol of hope for thousands of students who dream of a brighter future.

This year, SCG celebrated the program’s 17th anniversary by awarding scholarships to 250 high school and 40 college students across Batangas, Bulacan, Taguig, and Manila. The recognition ceremony, held on September 12 at Acacia Hotel Manila, reinforced SCG’s message: education is the foundation of human capital, and every learner’s potential matters.

Themed “Green Generation,” the 2025 edition highlights SCG’s belief that sustainable development starts with empowered individuals. Each high school scholar will receive ₱12,000 worth of support, including transportation allowance, school supplies, and uniforms. Meanwhile, college scholars are granted ₱20,000 annually to ease their academic journey.

More Than Scholarships

What sets “Sharing the Dream” apart is its emphasis on character and community impact. Students are not only chosen for academic excellence but also for leadership, perseverance, and active participation in extracurricular activities. “It’s not only about material support—it’s about confidence and empowerment that changes lives and communities,” said DepEd Director Atty. Amorsolo R. Camara Jr.

Since its inception, the program has supported more than 4,000 students. Many alumni have gone on to pursue successful careers while continuing to give back. Nurse Ma. Jesiery Rose F. Guevarra, a former scholar, credits SCG for helping her achieve her professional dream, while alumna Ma. Theressa F. Orbeta now works for the company, embodying the cycle of opportunity and gratitude.

Strengthening Bonds Beyond Borders

The initiative has also strengthened bilateral ties between Thailand and the Philippines. Thai Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Makawadee Sumitmor, praised SCG for fostering people-to-people connections: “This program is not only about education—it’s a bridge between nations that builds understanding and cooperation.”

SCG Country Director Jirasak Kaewubol underscored the company’s long-term vision. “We believe in the value of individuals. Building human capital through education and upskilling has always been at the heart of what we do,” he said.

Building a Brighter Future

As one of Asia’s most respected corporations, SCG has remained steadfast in its commitment to sustainable development and community upliftment. In the Philippines, its operations—from Mariwasa Siam Ceramics to SCG Logistics—are anchored on inclusive growth.

Through “Sharing the Dream,” SCG is not just funding education. It is investing in leaders, bridging cultures, and empowering the youth to carry forward a legacy of resilience, gratitude, and purpose.
