The colorful traditions, lively streets, and quiet corners of Iloilo City take center stage as Richmonde Hotel Iloilo presents Dumdumanon: Seeing Iloilo—Moments of a City, Seen and Remembered, a solo photography exhibition by Iranian multimedia artist Babak Niaraki.
Launched in celebration of the Iloilo Arts Festival this October, the exhibition also supports Iloilo Business Park’s recognition as the city’s Center of Arts and Culture, highlighting the growing importance of creative expression in the region.
Inspired by the Hiligaynon word Dumdumanon, meaning to remember or recollect, the exhibition transforms ordinary scenes into powerful visual stories that celebrate Iloilo’s identity, heritage, and people.
Having embraced Iloilo as his second home, Niaraki brings a distinctive artistic perspective to the city. His photographs reveal both the excitement of major cultural celebrations and the understated beauty of everyday life.

From the energetic performances and colorful costumes of the Dinagyang Festival to the bustling activities at Iloilo Central Market, his images capture the rhythm and personality of the community. Other photographs portray peaceful coastal landscapes and intimate moments that reflect the warmth and simplicity of Ilonggo living.
Each image tells a story beyond what the camera captures, inviting viewers to experience the emotions, traditions, and connections that make Iloilo special.
Where Art and Hospitality Come Together
For Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, the exhibition represents more than an artistic showcase. It reflects the hotel’s dedication to promoting local culture while providing guests with meaningful experiences beyond traditional hospitality.

Through this collaboration, the hotel transforms its lobby into a creative space where visitors, travelers, and art enthusiasts can discover the city through a fresh perspective.
Lucille Pedroso, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo’s Assistant Director of Sales, emphasized how Niaraki’s photography reflects the hotel’s approach to hospitality, combining the excitement of grand celebrations with the comfort of peaceful retreats.
She also encouraged guests and residents to visit the exhibition and rediscover the beauty of Iloilo through the artist’s remarkable photographs.
As Iloilo continues to strengthen its reputation as a destination for arts, culture, and tourism, Dumdumanon serves as a reminder that a city’s identity lives not only in its landmarks and festivities but also in the everyday experiences of its people.
The exhibition is open to the public at the Richmonde Hotel Iloilo lobby until November 6, 2026. Large-format photographic prints are also available for purchase.
