Private Sector and Metrobank Foundation Unite to Celebrate Teachers Nationwide

Across the country, over 130 initiatives from private companies came together under the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council (NTMCC) to celebrate and uplift Filipino educators—transforming gratitude into tangible acts of appreciation. Led by the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI), these collaborations turned classrooms, communities, and companies into spaces of tribute for those who shape the nation’s future.

NTMCC Chairperson and MBFI Trustee Aniceto Sobrepeña shares the efforts of private sector to support our educators during the National Teachers’ Day celebration at SM MOA Arena.

From training sessions and wellness workshops to discounts, recognition events, and heartfelt campaigns, 77 partner organizations found creative ways to honor the dedication and resilience of teachers. “Your time, resources, and creativity have strengthened this movement of gratitude that now spans communities nationwide,” said Aniceto M. Sobrepeña, NTMCC Chairperson and MBFI Trustee. “May we continue to nurture this spirit of appreciation beyond September, ensuring that every teacher feels seen, supported, and celebrated year-round.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led this year’s National Teachers’ Day celebration at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, where he personally thanked educators for “shaping minds, touching hearts, and building a nation we can be proud of—one student at a time.”

Among those honored were the 2025 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino Teachers, who shared how the recognition strengthened their resolve to make education more inclusive and community-driven. MBFI also hosted an art exhibition tour for teachers at The M in BGC, highlighting the connection between art, learning, and national identity.

What began in 2009 as MBFI’s “My Teacher, My Hero” campaign has evolved into a nationwide movement, formally institutionalized through Presidential Proclamation No. 242 (2011) and Republic Act 10743 (2016).
