Origami Coffee + Matcha Fest Celebrates Brewing Craft in Mandaluyong

Coffee culture and Japanese-inspired craftsmanship will take center stage in Mandaluyong as the Origami Coffee + Matcha Fest 2026 gathers specialty coffee brewers, cafés, roasters, matcha enthusiasts, and local brands for a two-day celebration at Greenfield District on September 5 and 6.

Organized by Toyo Specialty Coffee + Matcha, the festival is designed as a meeting place for both industry professionals and casual enthusiasts, offering opportunities to discover new flavors, experience different brewing techniques, and connect with the growing specialty beverage community.

At the heart of the event is the Origami Dripper, a brewing device inspired by the Japanese art of paper folding. Handcrafted from Mino porcelain in Gifu Prefecture, an area with more than 400 years of ceramic-making tradition, the dripper has gained recognition among home brewers and professional competitors for its distinctive design and brewing versatility.

A major highlight arrives on September 6 with the Origami Cup Philippines 2026, where some of the country’s skilled brewers will compete for the national championship.

Competitors will demonstrate their brewing techniques, precision, creativity, and understanding of coffee in an intensive one-day competition. Beyond the national title, the champion will earn the opportunity to represent the Philippines at the Origami World Cup 2027 in Japan, bringing Filipino specialty coffee talent to an international stage.

Festival visitors can also explore more than 30 specialty coffee, matcha, and lifestyle brands. The weekend will feature beverage booths, hands-on brewing experiences, product discoveries, and live competition action.

The event reflects the continuing expansion of specialty coffee and matcha culture in the Philippines, where consumers are becoming increasingly interested not only in what they drink but also in the craftsmanship, ingredients, and preparation behind every cup.

Supported by partners including Azura, Eightplus, Apax Lab, Brewista, Archers, Standard Supply, Matcha Bar, Lebrew, Sousik, Dripp, A.M. Coffee Roasters, Varia, Manapsol, H.O.Y. Dehusk, and Meiji, the festival combines international brewing influences with local creativity.

Whether visitors come for coffee, matcha, brewing knowledge, or competition excitement, the Origami Coffee + Matcha Fest offers a weekend centered on craftsmanship and community—while giving one Filipino brewer a chance to take the country’s talent all the way to Japan.
