MOA Arena Becomes the Beating Heart of Filipino Music at the Inaugural FMA

The red carpet unfurled in grand style at SM Mall of Asia Arena, ushering in a night of history and celebration at the Filipino Music Awards.

History was made as the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena transformed into a vibrant celebration of artistry, passion, and Filipino pride during the first-ever Filipino Music Awards (FMA) by Billboard Philippines. The country’s premier indoor arena became the epicenter of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), where timeless legends and trailblazing new acts shared one stage for a night that honored both heritage and evolution.

Hundreds of Filipino music artists arrived in style, gathering with pride to be honored as the brightest stars and leading talents of OPM.
From the red carpet to the final encore, the MOA Arena throbbed with excitement. Celebrities, fans, and industry leaders filled the iconic venue, their cheers echoing through every corner as performances unfolded one after another. The spectacle was more than just a show—it was a declaration that Filipino music has entered a new golden era.

A Night of Passion and Legacy

The event celebrated the depth and diversity of OPM, showcasing genres that reflected the country’s evolving soundscape. From heartfelt ballads and indie rock anthems to bold pop hits and experimental fusions, each performance spoke to the resilience and creativity of Filipino artists. The arena’s world-class acoustics and dynamic lighting elevated every note, turning each act into an immersive experience.

Reunited OPM band IV of Spades proudly accepted Rock Song of the Year at the Filipino Music Awards, marking a triumphant and memorable moment.

Award highlights included Rock Song of the Year for IV of Spades, whose much-anticipated comeback performance of “Aura” electrified the audience, and Pop Song of the Year, which drew fans to their feet. The night’s emotional peak came with a touching tribute to the late Pilita Corrales, the country’s “Asia’s Queen of Songs.” Her grandchildren accepted her posthumous recognition, a poignant reminder that music transcends time and generations.
