Lalamove Ride Expands Commuting Options for Filipinos

Getting around Metro Manila has become increasingly challenging as commuters contend with traffic congestion, limited ride availability, and frequent booking cancellations. To provide Filipinos with another dependable transportation option, Lalamove has expanded its services through Lalamove Ride, allowing users to book passenger trips using the same app they already rely on for deliveries.

The move comes as demand for ride-hailing services continues to outpace the number of available vehicles, particularly during peak hours. According to TomTom’s 2025 Traffic Index, motorists in Metro Manila spent an average of 143 hours stuck in rush-hour traffic, making the Philippines the most congested country in Asia. Beyond traffic itself, many commuters also face delays caused by repeated driver cancellations and fluctuating fares before they can even begin their journey.

Lalamove aims to ease these frustrations by tapping into its growing network of nearly 20,000 qualified ride-hailing partner drivers. According to Lalamove Philippines Managing Director Djon Nacario, the company seeks to improve ride availability by maximizing its existing driver network and technology platform, giving commuters a more reliable alternative when demand is at its highest.

Introduced in February 2025, Lalamove Ride extends the company’s mobility services beyond deliveries. Instead of downloading a separate application, users can conveniently arrange both deliveries and passenger rides within a single platform, creating a more seamless experience for everyday travel.

The company is also encouraging more drivers to participate by allowing qualified partner drivers to keep 100 percent of their ride fares. The zero-commission program, which began in December 2025 and has been extended through the end of 2026, enables drivers to earn the full amount from every completed ride without deductions. Lalamove believes this initiative will encourage more drivers to accept ride bookings, helping reduce waiting times for passengers.

Booking a ride follows a simple process. Users only need to enter their pickup and destination points before selecting either Car for regular trips or Car XL for larger groups and extra luggage. The service currently covers Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, and selected areas in Pampanga and Tarlac, with longer point-to-point trips also available in supported locations.

To support safe travel, Lalamove Ride incorporates several security measures, including a stringent driver accreditation process, real-time GPS tracking, 24/7 in-app customer support, an SOS emergency feature, and accident insurance provided by Chubb for added protection.

To further engage both riders and drivers, Lalamove is running promotional campaigns until September 30, 2026. Passengers can earn raffle entries for a chance to win a trip for two to Japan, while partner drivers have the opportunity to win a family vacation to Boracay, along with weekly GCash prizes.

By combining delivery and ride-hailing services in one familiar app, Lalamove is positioning itself as another practical mobility solution for Filipinos seeking more convenient, reliable, and accessible transportation.
