For more than two decades, SM Foundation has been quietly and steadfastly working to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved communities across the Philippines. Since the launch of its Medical Mission program in 2001, the foundation has completed over 1,700 missions, delivering free medical services to more than 1.3 million Filipinos—many of whom live in areas with limited or no access to quality healthcare.

What began as small-scale outreach activities has evolved into a nationwide movement for community wellness, powered by the support of dedicated social good partners. Over the years, the program has expanded its reach and capabilities, adapting to the changing needs of patients. Today, it is bolstered by a state-of-the-art mobile clinic outfitted with X-ray and ECG machines, as well as blood and urine analyzers—bringing hospital-grade diagnostics directly to far-flung barangays.

In recent weeks alone, SM Foundation has rolled out its services to several key locations: SM City Puerto Princesa’s Brgy. Salvacion, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa, Dumaguete City, Valencia in Negros Oriental, San Remio and Bogo in Cebu, and Naval Station Central Visayas. Thousands of residents benefited from on-the-spot consultations, diagnostic testing, and basic medical care, ensuring that even the most remote communities receive timely and quality health interventions.
Beyond immediate treatment, the Medical Mission program also serves as an entry point for preventive care—educating beneficiaries on health management and connecting them to longer-term healthcare solutions. This holistic approach reflects SM Foundation’s commitment not just to treating illness, but to fostering healthier communities.

The initiative runs in tandem with the Wellness Center program, which focuses on upgrading and rehabilitating health centers and hospitals. By improving facilities and equipment, SM Foundation ensures that healthcare providers in beneficiary communities can sustain quality service long after the medical mission teams have departed.
With more missions lined up in the coming months, SM Foundation continues to serve as a lifeline for thousands of Filipinos in need of medical attention. Each mission reaffirms the foundation’s core belief: that healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and that no community should be too far, too small, or too underserved to receive the care it deserves.
Through persistence, innovation, and compassion, SM Foundation’s medical missions are not only healing individuals—they’re building a healthier future for the nation.
