
Hans Sy, Executive Committee Chairman of SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), has been awarded the esteemed Honorary Fellow title by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Philippines. This top honor recognizes Sy’s exceptional contributions to corporate governance, sustainability, disaster resilience, and education, as well as his efforts to promote best practices in the private sector.
The Honorary Fellow title, ICD’s highest accolade, is granted through a rigorous selection process to individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and commitment to ethical business practices. In his acceptance speech, Sy highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership, stating, “As public companies, our responsibilities extend beyond profit. We owe it to our stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of governance.”
He also shared the Sy family’s “no choice” philosophy, which emphasizes values as guiding principles, ensuring purposeful leadership, responsible growth, and positive social impact. This ethos has been central to Sy’s work in advancing sustainable business practices and corporate social responsibility in the Philippines.
