In today’s hyperconnected world, growing up online has become second nature for many Filipino students—but so have the risks that come with it. From scams and identity theft to more serious threats like Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials, the digital landscape presents challenges that demand awareness as much as access. Recognizing this, Globe Telecom is strengthening its efforts to ensure that connectivity is paired with protection.
Rather than relying solely on traditional campaigns, Globe has taken a more personal and community-driven approach through its Digital Thumbprint Program. This initiative transforms employees into educators, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to guide students through the realities of online life. As certified ambassadors, these volunteers step into classrooms to break down complex topics—like phishing, digital footprints, and online consent—into relatable, everyday situations that young people can easily understand.

In South Luzon, this approach came to life at Gov. Ferrer East National High School, where students participated in an interactive session led by a Globe employee-volunteer. Instead of passive listening, the workshop encouraged active participation, prompting students to reflect on their own online habits. From accepting unknown friend requests to oversharing personal information, they learned how small decisions can have significant consequences—and how to make safer choices moving forward.
The program also emphasized the importance of peer influence. Students were not just taught to protect themselves but were encouraged to become advocates of responsible online behavior within their own circles. By fostering this sense of shared responsibility, the initiative extends its impact beyond the classroom and into the wider community.
Since its launch in 2016, the Digital Thumbprint Program has reached nearly two million learners nationwide, underscoring Globe’s long-term commitment to digital literacy. Its continued expansion reflects a broader vision: that as internet access grows, so should the capacity of individuals—especially the youth—to navigate it safely and responsibly.
Through efforts like these, Globe highlights a crucial truth: building a safer digital future isn’t the job of one institution alone. It requires collaboration, education, and a collective willingness to protect the most vulnerable. By empowering both employees and students, the company is helping shape a generation that is not only connected—but informed, cautious, and ready to take charge of their digital lives.
