As part of its annual G DAY celebration, Globe conducted a nationwide school tour featuring its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), a series of workshops focused on digital safety, ethical AI use, and responsible online citizenship. Over 1,000 students from five schools—Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, STI Caloocan, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Bintawan National High School in Nueva Vizcaya, and the University of Southern Mindanao—participated in the sessions.
The DTP workshops tackled pressing issues like cybersecurity, mental wellness, and the ethical use of technology, while also addressing the Philippines’ alarming rates of online exploitation. Globe aims to empower students, teachers, and parents to navigate digital spaces safely, a mission underscored by the company’s efforts to block over 400,000 malicious sites in 2023 alone.
The program also expanded to include AI ethics, equipping students with critical skills for a future where artificial intelligence plays a central role. Recent studies highlight that 71% of employers value AI expertise, making this addition particularly timely.
Highlights included criminology students at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina learning strategies to combat cybercrime and IT students at STI Caloocan gaining insights into digital responsibility. At Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 365 students explored ethical AI practices, while students at the University of Southern Mindanao learned practical digital skills during the university’s Pasiklaban 2024.
Globe’s school tour also reached Bintawan National High School in Nueva Vizcaya, recognizing students’ dedication to education despite limited resources. Engaging raffles awarded winners with GFiber Prepaid plans, ensuring fast and reliable internet for their studies.
“Through DTP, we empower the youth to use technology responsibly and prepare them for a tech-driven future,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.
