Fur-Ever Bonds Forged at SM Southmall’s Paw Story

At SM Southmall, the last Saturday of August wasn’t just about shopping or dining—it was about wagging tails, joyful reunions, and second chances. The mall opened its doors to a different kind of celebration through Paw Story: Dog Adoption Day, a community event that transformed the busy concourse into a haven of hope for rescued dogs and the families who welcomed them.

Unlike a typical mall event, Paw Story carried with it a mission that went beyond entertainment. Partnering with the Las Piñas Veterinary Office, Jordan Veterinary Clinic, and Pet Express, the initiative highlighted both the heartache and triumph in animal rescue. Guests listened to stories of survival—dogs once abandoned or neglected now patiently waiting for someone to see them not as strays, but as companions.

The theme, “To fur-ever homes and beyond!”, resonated strongly with every visitor who stopped by. Children crouched to pet the adoptables, senior citizens asked about care tips, and families talked about which furry friend might fit into their household. It was more than adoption—it was about creating a bond, and learning the responsibility that comes with it.

“Through Paw Story, we’re reminded that kindness can change two lives at once—the rescued pet’s and the adopter’s,” shared SM Southmall Assistant Mall Manager, Sajie Santos. His words mirrored the spirit of the day: that adopting isn’t charity, but a mutual gift of love and loyalty.

By sunset, several dogs had found their new homes. Their wagging tails and the excited smiles of their new families were proof that the event’s goal was achieved. Each adoption carried the promise of a better tomorrow—where once-homeless animals can thrive, and families can discover the unique joy only a rescued pet can bring.

Through Paw Story, SM Southmall reaffirmed its role not just as a retail hub, but as a community space where compassion is celebrated and lives—both human and canine—are forever changed.
