For many Filipinos, snacking is more than just a quick bite—it’s a daily ritual tied to joy, connection, and culture. A recent global survey by Mondelēz International, as part of its 6th annual State of Snacking report, revealed that the Philippines tops the global charts when it comes to snacking. An incredible 98% of Filipinos enjoy at least one snack a day, surpassing the global average of 91%. But what really stands out is how often they snack—84% indulge twice a day, and 42% snack three times daily.
The insights, compiled into the first-ever State of Philippine Snacking report, highlight snacking’s deep role in Filipino lifestyles. Beyond hunger, snacking serves as a powerful source of energy and emotional connection. Morning and afternoon are peak snacking times, helping keep spirits high throughout the day. In fact, 75% of Filipinos say snacking gives them a much-needed energy boost, while 90% share that “sharing snacks is my love language,” making it a social experience, too.

Snacking is also increasingly becoming a mindful act. According to the report, 99% of Filipinos practice mindful snacking—choosing snacks with awareness and intention. Nearly all surveyed said they enjoy their snacks more when eaten mindfully, and a majority are shifting toward balance and moderation. About 80% look for portion-controlled options, and 91% pair their favorite treats with healthier choices for a more nutritious bite.
“Snacking is an essential part of Filipino culture,” says Aleli Arcilla, Managing Director of Mondelēz International in the Philippines. “It connects us to loved ones, rewards us after a long day, and reminds us to savor little indulgences with mindfulness.”
Even in how and where they shop, Filipinos are thoughtful. Most buy snacks from malls or nearby convenience stores, and nearly all engage in sustainable habits, like choosing eco-friendly packaging or products made from sustainable materials.
Snacking for Filipinos isn’t just a habit—it’s a way of life, woven into daily routines with meaning and intention. Whether it’s for energy, connection, or simply for joy, the Filipino approach to snacking is a global example of how something small can add up to something deeply satisfying.
