Exploring the Culinary Landscape with the Inaugural ‘Grill’IN!’ BBQ & Food Festiva

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, through the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office (INTO), kicked off the first-ever Grill’IN! BBQ and Food Festival as part of this year’s provincial fiesta at Sexy Beach in Pasuquin on May 11.

The event drew food and music enthusiasts, as well as provincial officials, highlighting Ilocos Norte’s rich gastronomic heritage by showcasing a variety of Ilokano dishes.

Grill’IN! brought together a lively community of merchants, offering a tantalizing selection of Ilokano BBQ and treats. The festival opened with a “BBQ Cook Off,” where representatives from Local Government Units demonstrated their grilling skills. Laoag secured 1st place, Badoc came in 2nd, and Solsona took 3rd.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, local bands Mattilda, Magrus, and Break the Code performed, enhancing the celebratory mood.

Senior Board Member Rafael Chua Medina emphasized that the event celebrated Ilokano culinary pride and provincial unity.

We are able to showcase our different Ilokano recipes, and we are able to showcase our unity as Ilokanos in our province,” he said.

Aiming to holistically celebrate Ilokano culture, the ‘Grill’IN!’ BBQ and Food Festival is part of the province’s lineup of events from April 25 to May 25, 2024.
