Empowering Traditions: Lalamove Backs Luzon’s Flores de Mayo Communities

Five winning barangays will each receive ₱50,000 in cash support for their Flores de Mayo festival activities, with applications open from March 15 to April 15, 2026.

In many parts of Luzon, the annual Flores de Mayo is a vibrant expression of faith and culture, marked by colorful floral displays, processions, and strong community participation. Yet behind the beauty of each celebration lies weeks—sometimes months—of careful preparation. From organizing volunteers and designing decorations to coordinating logistics and securing materials, these efforts often rely on the dedication of local leaders and residents.

Recognizing this unseen work, Lalamove Philippines has launched Flores de LALA, an initiative that supports barangays as they prepare for their Flores de Mayo festivities. The campaign aims to highlight the meaningful stories behind each community’s celebration while offering tangible assistance to help bring these traditions to life.

Through the program, five selected barangays across Luzon will each receive ₱50,000 in cash support to fund their festival preparations. Applications are open until April 15, 2026, giving communities the opportunity to showcase not just their events, but the spirit of collaboration that sustains them.

More than a simple contest, Flores de LALA underscores the importance of community-driven traditions. Flores de Mayo continues to thrive because of the collective effort of organizers, families, and volunteers who dedicate time and resources to preserve it. Whether it’s crafting elaborate arches, preparing Santacruzan attire, or coordinating daily offerings, every detail reflects a shared commitment to heritage.

“Flores de Mayo is more than a celebration—it is a reflection of unity and devotion. Through Flores de LALA, we want to recognize the hard work behind each event and provide support that helps communities continue this cherished tradition,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director of Lalamove Philippines.

Eligible applicants must be registered Lalamove users representing barangays in Luzon and must have completed at least one transaction within the past six months. Requirements include submitting a completed registration form, providing account details, and securing an endorsement letter from a Parish Priest or Barangay Captain.

Participants are also invited to share a short narrative explaining what makes their Flores de Mayo unique. Entries will be judged based on storytelling, cultural significance, community involvement, and feasibility of execution. Winners will be announced on April 17, 2026, marking a meaningful boost for communities keeping this beloved Filipino tradition alive.
