Captivating Katkat, one of the most prominent drag queens in the country, is using her platform to push for equality after being crowned winner in the second season of Drag Race Philippines.

The drag queen, who is a Quezon City resident herself, shared photos from a courtesy visit with Mayor Joy Belmonte, who recently launched the Right to Care Card in Quezon city. The initiative provides a way for LGBTQIA+ couples to make important medical decisions for their partners and is touted as a local milestone in civil rights.

Since its launch during the Pride PH festival in June, 696 couples or 1,392 individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community have signed up to receive their cards, which grants their partner a special power of attorney (SPOA) for medical care. The number continues to grow as more people clamor to have the same in other cities.

The office of the mayor also posted its own set of photos from their meeting. “Boogsh! Maraming salamat, RuPaul’s Drag Race PH Season 2 Winner Captivating Katkat, para sa pagbisita sa Quezon City Hall! Mainit na tinanggap ni Mayor Joy Belmonte si Captivating Katkat sa kanyang tanggapan ngayong umaga para sa isang courtesy call,” posts the official’s account.

Right to Care Card is a partnership project between the Quezon City government and creative communications agency, MullenLowe TREYNA.
