Colab Café: Brewing Connections, One Cup at a Time

In the heart of the city, a new kind of coffee shop is making waves—not just for its brews, but for the community it nurtures. Colab Café, co-founded by Koko Tamura and her partners, officially opened its doors in May 2025 after a soft opening last March. More than a café, it is envisioned as a community lounge where ideas, creativity, and collaboration flow as freely as the coffee.

The café’s design itself reflects this philosophy. Working with designers and artists, the team drew inspiration from the element of water—symbolizing fluidity, connection, and growth.

This is embodied in the sleek use of stainless steel and flowing patterns across the space, making it both modern and inviting. “Since this is a community lounge, we wanted something free-flowing, like water,” Tamura explains.

Beyond aesthetics, Colab Café is about building meaningful connections. On any given day, the space is filled with architects, designers, lawyers, doctors, IT professionals, remote workers, and startup founders.

With free Wi-Fi, accessible outlets, and a welcoming atmosphere, it has become a go-to spot for Zoom meetings, brainstorming sessions, or simply unwinding after work. “You’ll never know who you’ll meet here. A simple coffee chat might turn into a collaboration,” says Tamura.

The café’s launch highlighted this spirit of togetherness through workshops, networking activities, and a special Thanksgiving party to thank supporters. The founders also partnered with Café Club PH, blending culinary artistry with community-building. Their menu emphasizes healthier, more authentic flavors—from jams made of real fruits with no preservatives, to pure matcha powder, to locally sourced Sagata coffee beans. Each offering reflects their commitment to quality and sustainability.

Looking ahead, Colab Café aims to replicate its model in more locations within the next three years, expanding the community while staying true to its mission of fostering creativity and collaboration. “This is just the start,” Tamura shares with a smile.

At Colab Café, every cup holds more than caffeine—it holds the possibility of connection, growth, and new beginnings.
