Chasing the Crown with Renewed Fire

A fresh season has opened a new chapter for the PLDT High Speed Hitters—one defined not by past disappointment, but by sharpened resolve and quiet confidence. Finishing fourth in the previous conference left the squad with unfinished business, yet instead of dwelling on what slipped away, the team chose to transform that near-miss into motivation. Early victories in the new campaign signaled this shift in mindset, revealing a group determined to rise beyond participation and return to true championship contention.

For head coach Rald Ricafort, the lessons of last season became the foundation of a more disciplined preparation. Every drill and preseason decision carried a single purpose: growth that translates into results. Captain Kath Arado felt the same urgency pulsing through the roster, describing a collective hunger fueled by reflection and strengthened by experience. Rather than rushing outcomes, the team now embraces patience—approaching matches one at a time while recognizing that competition across the league has only grown tougher.

A major turning point in their preparation came from an intensive training camp in Japan. More than a conditioning program, the trip exposed the High Speed Hitters to a culture of precision, discipline, and consistency embedded in volleyball development from a young age. Observing how fundamentals and mental resilience are cultivated abroad reshaped the team’s understanding of winning. Power alone would not be enough; composure, timing, and intelligent execution must define their play.

Arado carried this realization personally, acknowledging that leadership begins with controlling tempo and trusting the system. By slowing the game down to a rhythm they understand, the team positions itself to execute with clarity instead of desperation—an adjustment that could determine their fate in tight matches.

Adding new energy to the roster is middle blocker Seth Rodriguez, whose competitiveness and optimism arrive at a crucial moment. With key veterans pursuing opportunities overseas, Rodriguez’s presence in the middle offers both defensive stability and emotional spark. Still adapting to the system, she leans on teammates for guidance while promising relentless effort whenever called upon. For Arado, Rodriguez’s blocking strength and fighting spirit could become vital pillars in the team’s evolving identity.

Together, renewed discipline, international learning, and fresh talent are shaping a different version of the High Speed Hitters—one more technical, composed, and mentally resilient. As the PVL All-Filipino Conference unfolds, PLDT is no longer chasing validation. They are pursuing redemption with purpose, speed, and belief that the road ahead may finally lead back to the crown.
