Central Eastern Visayas’ Katherine Topsnik Crowned as Binibining Silka 2023

She was crowned by Miss Silka 2019 Jaimee Nicole Manio and awarded by Cosmetique Asia Corporation Chief Finance Officer, Juanita Co; Cosmetique Asia Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Janssen Co; and Star Magic Head and ABS-CBN Head of TV Production, Lauren Dyogi.

In Silka’s search for the woman with empowering ‘kinang’, Katherine Topsnik from Central Eastern Visayas shines as the true embodiment of a modern Filipina who is capable of using her influence to champion the causes the create positive impact on her community.

Other winners include Binibining Silka 2023 1st Runner Up Abegail Jenn Mulder of Southern Mindanao, who received P300,000, a crown, sash, flowers, and Silka products presented by Cosmetique Asia Corporation Vice President for Marketing and Purchasing, Jane Co; Zebra Delta Inc. Chief Executive Officer, JayR Encinas; Silka Marketing Manager, Eunice de Belen; ABS-CBN Music Head, Roxy Liquigan; and Silka Brand Ambassador Sunshine Cruz.

Silka, one of the leading skincare brands in the country, continues to emblazon its legacy of illuminating the true ‘kinang’ of a Filipina – the shine that goes beyond outer glow, rather, encompassing her inner beauty, courage, and advocacy.

With a theme backed up by this empowering message, Silka re-launched its annual beauty pageant, this time, bolder and bigger as Binibining Silka 2023 in partnership with ABS-CBN.

Beamae Sumulong of Southern Tagalog was hailed as 2nd Runner Up. She brought home P200,000, a crown, sash, flowers, and Silka products presented by Cosmetique Asia Corporation COO, Timothy Chuongco; Cosmetique Asia Corporation VP for Finance and Marketing, Hennie Co-Yu; ABS-CBN Music Creative Director and composer of official Binibining Silka 2023 theme song “Kumikinang,” Jonathan Manalo; Kagandahang Flores Founder, Rodgil Flores; and Silka Brand Ambassador Sue Ramirez.

“We renamed this year’s pageant Binibining Silka because we want to further establish Silka as a wholly- Filipino proud local brand which has been in the country serving Filipinos for 22 years”, Eunice de Belen, Marketing Manager of Silka said.

“And with our relaunch, you’ve witnessed a bigger and bolder Binibining Silka in partnership with a trusted network ABS-CBN who helped us mount, scale and promote all our regional legs and the recently concluded grand coronation night.” de Belen added.

Bb. Silka Central Luzon Abigail Arnold won the Best Swimsuit Award, presented by Cosmetique Asia Corporation’s Trade Marketing Manager, Jeffrey Roxas; and National Sales Manager for Modern Trade, Jennifer Penafiel

Making its grand comeback since the pandemic, the search celebrates inclusivity and diversity among Filipinas, thus providing wider regional and cultural representation.

Twelve candidates who stood out from the months-long regional leg proudly represented their provinces and vied for the title. The Grand Coronation night happened on October 29, with a radiant 20-year-old Katherine Topsnik from Central Eastern Visayas clinching the coveted crown!

The Boholana beauty, who is an aspiring biologist, immediately seized the audience and judges’ attention with her jaw-dropping look on stage, let alone when she demonstrated her candor and strong advocacy during the Q&A portion for the Top 7 bets.

Asked one stereotype about beauty queens that she would like to debunk and how she will do it, Katherine answered with palpable sincerity, “I believe that there’s this stereotype about beauty queens that all we have is just a face. And I believe with myself, and all the other girls, that we have a good heart. We have our morals and values. And that is how we inspire and influence others.”

“If I were to become your Binibining Silka 2023 tonight, I will use my position to further spread my message and influence.”

Katherine’s eloquent statement truly encapsulated the image of a modern Filipina who shines beyond outer beauty. She is indeed the epitome of the true ‘kinang’  of a Pinay who is capable of using her influence to champion the causes that resonate deeply within her. She is one to display sophisticated grace, resilience, and determination in conquering her journey that creates positive impact on her community.

The newly crowned Binibining Silka 2023 promises to reign with purpose. She is determined to move with deep conviction for what she stands for, which is inclusivity for children with disabilities. Katherine is a huge supporter of The Little Lamb Missionaries of the Poor, which is a permanent home for the destitute, physically, and intellectually disabled children.

To mark the beginning of a meaningful partnership, Silka supports Katherine’s advocacy by donating P250,000 to her chosen charitable institution.

Apart from the crown, [Katherine] bagged P500,000 in cash, plus sash and Silka products. She’s also bound to showcase her dazzling talent through her hosting projects in ABS-CBN Regional Events and Dear MOR; acting stints in iWantTFC, Star Cinema, and ABS-CBN teleseryes; and as a guest VJ on MYX (One Music Live). And as the true embodiment of Ganda at Alagang Silka, she will become the brand’s newest ambassador.

Winners of the special awards received a P30,000 cash prize. Beamae Sumulong of Southern Tagalog, 2nd Runner Up, was also Ms. Popular Choice and Best Regional Costume. Liza Mae Ruiz of Western Mindanao was awarded as Miss Congeniality. Verily Aquino of NCR was chosen as Best in Casual Wear. And Abigail Arnold of Central Luzon took home the Best in Swimsuit Award.
