
The city of Iloilo is set to dazzle once again as it gears up for the Dinagyang Festival 2025. This globally celebrated event captures the essence of Ilonggo culture, blending history, art, and culinary treasures. Rooted in the Hiligaynon word “Dinagyang” meaning merriment, the festival pulses with energy, joy, and pride.

Renowned for its striking performances, intricate costumes, and cultural richness, this year’s Dinagyang promises even more as SM City Iloilo takes center stage. With its fitting tagline, “AweSM Iloilo”, the mall transforms into a vibrant hub of activities, catering to locals and tourists alike.

The festival kicked off on January 15 with the premiere of the Ilonggo film Cande at SM Cinema 3. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kevin Piamonte and produced by Atty. Jobert and Ms. Rhea Peñaflorida, the film showcased Iloilo’s creative brilliance.

On January 17, the Dinagyang tRAIbaho PESO Job Fair brought career opportunities to the forefront. Attracting nearly 3,500 applicants, the event saw over 2,500 qualifying for jobs and more than 200 hired on the spot. It was a testament to the city’s drive for growth and empowerment.
The excitement continued with the Dinagyang Fun Ride on January 18, where nearly 500 cycling enthusiasts took to the streets in a spirited display of unity.

From January 19 to 26, SM City Iloilo became a living gallery, hosting the AweSM Dinagyang Festival Costumes Exhibit at the Event Center. Visitors marveled at intricate designs that reflected Ilonggo artistry. Simultaneously, the AweSM Tourism Booth, Festival Sale, and Best of Iloilo Fair highlighted the city’s attractions, craftsmanship, and products.

Adding to the festivities, the Dinagyang Arnis Competition took place at Cyberzone from January 23 to 25. Meanwhile, daily parades and meet-and-greets with the iconic Dinagyang Warriors brought the festival’s vibrant spirit directly to the crowd.

Food lovers were treated to an extraordinary feast at South Point from January 23 to 26, with the Grand Iloilo Food Festival and Batchoy Festival showcasing the region’s culinary delights. The South Point Party provided the perfect setting to savor these flavors while enjoying live music and camaraderie.

Evenings at South Point transformed into a spectacle during the Music and Arts Festival, where local talents lit up the stage with performances from January 23 to 27.
On January 24, the much-awaited Dinagyang ILOmination Grand Opening illuminated SM City Iloilo’s facade in a dazzling display, setting the mood for the Grand Fireworks Show on January 25.

As the festival nears its climax, January 26 promises a star-studded finale at South Point, featuring performances by Darren Espanto, Horizon, and other artists, wrapping up the event with a bang.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas emphasized the festivals commitment to safety and inclusivity, assuring that enhanced security measures would ensure a worry-free celebration for all.

Dinagyang 2025 is more than a festival; it’s a testament to Ilonggo resilience, creativity, and unity.
