Under the shade of Batangas’ rolling hills, the Figaro Foundation once again sowed seeds of hope and sustainability through its Coffee Tree Planting: From Crop to Cup 2025 program. Now in its second year, the initiative gathered more than 200 volunteers to plant 1,000 coffee seedlings in Purok 6, Sitio Bagbag, Brgy. San Isidro, Lipa City—a symbolic act that goes beyond environmental care to restoring the province’s proud coffee legacy.
Batangas has long been hailed as the heartland of Philippine coffee, home to generations of farmers whose livelihoods once revolved around the aromatic kapeng barako. Through this annual planting drive, the Figaro Foundation is not just reforesting land—it is reawakening a culture, reintroducing sustainable farming, and empowering local growers to carry forward a centuries-old tradition.
“The heart of this project is continuity,” shared Mary Joy Herrera, Administrator of the Figaro Foundation. “Every seedling we plant is a promise—to the farmers, to the environment, and to the generations who deserve to experience the aroma of Batangas coffee at its finest.”
The Foundation’s commitment extends far beyond planting day. It has pledged to maintain and nurture the planting sites twice a year for the next two years, ensuring each seedling grows into a fruitful tree. This hands-on approach underscores Figaro’s belief that sustainability is a long-term investment in both nature and community well-being.
To formalize the collaboration, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by key partners including Herrera, Figaro Coffee Group Brand Manager John Christopher Laderas, landowner Ric Pesa, and Barangay Captain Hon. Tasiano Mea. Together, they stand as stewards of this mission—linking business, local government, and community in one shared goal: the revival of Batangas’ coffee heritage.
Through initiatives like From Crop to Cup, the Figaro Foundation continues to prove that corporate social responsibility can be as rich and rewarding as the coffee it celebrates—brewing not just beverages, but better futures for Filipino farmers and the environment alike.
