For Michael Manago, CEO of BossLabs AI, artificial intelligence becomes truly valuable to businesses only when it is supported by the right digital foundation.
Speaking about the challenges faced by Filipino entrepreneurs, Manago highlighted how many businesses still depend on spreadsheets, paperwork, and repetitive manual processes for inventory, billing, payroll, customer management, and operations. While these methods may work initially, they can become increasingly difficult to manage as a company expands.
BossLabs AI approaches the problem through what Manago describes as the proper sequence: platform, automation, then artificial intelligence.
Before AI can effectively analyze information, he explained, businesses need a platform where their important operational data can live together. Automation can then move information and perform repetitive processes, while AI becomes the intelligence layer that helps owners understand and use their data.
“The word is leverage,” Manago said, emphasizing that technology can help businesses accomplish more without simply adding people and working hours.
He cited examples of companies that once spent significant amounts of time reconciling information manually. A fuel retailer operating eight stations, for instance, could spend around 80 hours each month reconciling inventory. With an integrated platform, automation, and AI, many repetitive processes can be significantly reduced.
BossLabs has also developed technology for businesses and organizations in different industries. Manago discussed digital systems for construction operations, recycling, manpower services, lighting businesses, and basketball development programs, demonstrating how customized platforms can address very different operational needs.
Central to his vision is making technology accessible to micro, small, and medium enterprises.
BossLabs offers custom systems for businesses, but Manago stressed that education is also part of the company’s advocacy. Through webinars and “vibe coding” sessions, entrepreneurs without traditional programming backgrounds are introduced to building websites, inventory systems, CRM platforms, booking applications, and other business tools with AI assistance.
“Teaching is not our business. Teaching is our advocacy,” Manago said, explaining that BossLabs’ core business remains developing technology solutions for clients.
The company also teaches entrepreneurs about progressive web applications, database management, debugging, integrations, and responsible handling of customer information.
Manago believes the democratization of software development could give Filipino entrepreneurs greater control over their businesses. Instead of technology being accessible primarily to large corporations with substantial budgets, smaller enterprises can increasingly create systems tailored to their operations.
For BossLabs AI, the long-term goal goes beyond introducing businesses to artificial intelligence. It is about helping Filipino entrepreneurs build the digital infrastructure, automation, and knowledge they need to compete, grow, and eventually operate with greater efficiency and independence.
