This season’s finals were between the San Miguel Beermen and Meralco Bolts, a historic match that rekindled the competition between the same team way back in Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA) days.

Meralco Bolts won a 4-2 match victory over the San Miguel Beerman with a game 6 score of 80-78 last Sunday, June 16, at the Araneta Coliseum. The 2015 Boltz recruit, Cris Newsome, top scored with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists, clinching the title for PBA Philippine Cup Finals MVP.

In an exclusive interview during the finals press conference, Chris Newsome shared how the upcoming finals was like fate to him, since the first team he played against in the PBA has become the team he plays against for his first championship finals. Newsome said, What makes it special is it being the first one for the Meralco franchise history and that shows that we’ve been working really hard as an organization to continue to improve and be better every single year.”

Consecutively, PBA celebrated the success of this season together with the champions at the One Ayala Mall Makati on June 18 to bring the victory closer to fans. BingoPlus presented this celebration by giving away premium merchandise to all attendees while expressing the brand’s utmost congratulations to Newsome for its entertaining run all throughout the whole season.

Commissioner Willie Marcial shared his gratitude to brands, saying, Ang laking tulong sa PBA ng BingoPlus at ArenaPlus – sa mga fans, sa engagement, at sa mga players. Malaking bagay samin si BingoPlus at ArenaPlus, kaya papasalamat kami sa BingoPlus at ArenaPlus.”

BingoPlus and ArenaPlus partnership with the PBA comes from understanding how important certain sports are to Filipinos as well as their place in the local culture. With basketball being an important facet of Philippine entertainment, BingoPlus and ArenaPlus endeavor to develop more avenues for Filipinos to access their favorite forms of entertainment.
