Berde Renewables is strengthening its renewable energy portfolio in Southeast Asia after entering into a strategic partnership with Sungrow Power and regional distributor Solar Hive to accelerate the rollout of large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects in the Philippines and Thailand.
The collaboration is anchored on a Master Framework Agreement (MFA), which allows Berde Renewables to procure up to 200 megawatts (MW) of solar inverters and 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) over the next three years. The initiative aims to provide businesses in both countries with cleaner, more dependable, and cost-efficient energy solutions.
Berde Renewables Chief Executive Officer Patrick Zhu said the agreement enhances the company’s ability to deploy renewable energy projects more efficiently by combining advanced technology, reliable supply, and regional expertise. He noted that the addition of 500MWh of battery storage represents an important milestone for the company and supports the growing demand for flexible and resilient power systems, particularly in the Philippines.
Through the partnership, Sungrow Power will provide solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, electric vehicle charging solutions, and smart energy technologies. Solar Hive, Sungrow’s authorized regional distributor, will support project implementation by providing logistics, spare parts, technical assistance, and after-sales services across the Philippines and Thailand.
Sungrow Regional Director for Southeast Asia Michael Ruan expressed confidence that the collaboration will accelerate the deployment of high-performance renewable energy solutions throughout the region. Meanwhile, Solar Hive Head of Sales and Business Development David Zhang said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Berde’s expansion and could pave the way for future renewable energy projects across Southeast Asia.
Beyond equipment supply, the three companies also plan to collaborate on technical training, certification programs, market development initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and potential co-investment and vendor financing opportunities for selected projects.
The agreement is expected to strengthen Berde Renewables’ capacity to help commercial and industrial customers reduce electricity costs while improving energy reliability. Priority access to Sungrow’s latest technologies and a more efficient regional supply chain is expected to shorten project delivery timelines from contract signing to commissioning.
The addition of battery storage also enables Berde Renewables to offer services that improve grid stability, including storing excess solar energy generated during the day for use during peak evening demand.
Berde Renewables continues to expand its clean energy offerings through its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, under which the company finances, builds, owns, and operates solar facilities for customers during the contract period before transferring ownership of the assets at the end of the agreement. This approach allows businesses to adopt renewable energy without significant upfront capital investment while supporting the region’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
