Bamboo Stars in SM’s First Ever Virtual Concert

In time for Philippine Independence Day, SM Supermalls highlighted an electrifying musical experience as it rocked Pinoys at the comfort of their homes with its first ever online concert entitled “Freedom Rocks” featuring rock icon Bamboo last June 20.

“It has always been our goal to provide fun and entertainment to Filipinos, especially now that some of us are still stuck in our homes. We hope that this simple concert treat has somehow brought positivity to everyone as we fight this pandemic,” said SM Supermalls senior vice president Jonjon San Agustin.

Exclusive to the lucky winners of SM’s nationwide Philippine Independence Day promo, the virtual concert was streamed nationwide via Zoom which featured Bamboo’s greatest hit songs, including “Hallelujah,” “Noypi,” and “Tatsulok.” He also sang hits from his previous band Rivermaya, such as “Awit ng Kabataan,” “Himala,” and “214.”

“This is our first time with full stage setup and no physical audience. First time to see each other in months, too. We miss something but this is ideal,’’ said Bamboo.

Freedom Rocks was shot at the SM City North EDSA Sky Dome with no physical audience. Bamboo, his band, and a limited production crew were the only ones in attendance.

Throughout the production, everyone involved in the show observed safety measures including wearing of face masks and observing physical distancing. A team also sanitized the entire venue, including all equipment and other high-touch surfaces, to help protect everyone’s health.
