Alfamart, the minimart chain under the SM Group, is set to expand its presence in Luzon by opening at least 200 new stores in 2025. With a total of 2,100 stores by the end of 2024, the company continues to fulfill its mission of making fresh goods and daily essentials more accessible to Filipino communities.
As part of its expansion, Alfamart is also generating employment opportunities across the country. In 2024 alone, the growing minimart chain created over 2,500 new jobs, supported by the establishment of a new distribution center in Sariaya, Quezon, which strengthens its supply chain network.
Now operating in 11 provinces and 15 Metro Manila cities, Alfamart remains dedicated to reaching underserved communities. “Our continued growth is driven by our commitment to serving neighborhoods that need better access to essential goods. We will continue strengthening our presence in these areas to deliver better value and convenience,” said Harvey T. Ong, Chief Operating Officer of Alfamart Philippines.
Beyond expanding its retail footprint, Alfamart has also become a platform for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive. By allowing local businesses to set up shop within its stores, Alfamart fosters economic development and supports entrepreneurs in scaling their businesses.
One of its successful MSME partners is Laundry Express, a self-service laundry chain that has grown to 52 outlets across the country. Additionally, well-loved brands such as Coco Fresh Tea & Juice and Potato Corner have also established a presence in select Alfamart locations, offering more variety to customers.
Alfamart continues to enhance its in-store offerings by providing fresh and affordable food options. Through partnerships with local hog raisers and poultry farmers, the minimart chain ensures high-quality frozen meats at competitive prices. It has also introduced in-store butchers in select branches, allowing customers to request custom cuts for a more personalized shopping experience.
“As we expand, we want our partner communities and local businesses to grow with us,” added Ong. “Our vision remains the same—to foster inclusive growth, create more business and job opportunities, and bring the convenience of a modern minimart to more Filipino neighborhoods as we enter our second decade of service.”
