A Life-Changing Ride for a Tondo Delivery Rider

What started as a simple evening bonding activity between a father and his son turned into an unforgettable moment for 30-year-old delivery rider Jess Mar Mallari after he won a brand-new BYD Sealion 6 DM-i through the viral Jagat Coin Hunt campaign.

Mallari, a resident of Tondo, Manila, could hardly contain his emotions as he officially received the vehicle during a turnover ceremony held at a BYD dealership in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. For someone who spends most of his days navigating Metro Manila streets on a motorcycle to provide for his family, winning a hybrid SUV worth over ₱1.5 million felt almost unreal.

For months, Mallari had been joining the Jagat Coin Hunt alongside countless other participants searching for hidden digital and physical tokens that could be exchanged for prizes. Despite repeated attempts, luck had always seemed one step ahead of him.

According to Mallari, it was his son who convinced him to go on one more coin hunt after he had just returned home tired from work. The father initially planned to rest, but eventually gave in when they noticed a nearby hunting location in Tondo.

That spontaneous decision turned out to be life-changing.

Mallari shared that when they arrived at the location, nobody had discovered the hidden item yet. To his surprise, the card they found turned out to be the winning BYD prize card. The shock left him sleepless for days as he struggled to process the magnitude of what had happened.

Though he admitted he is more experienced in riding motorcycles than driving cars, Mallari said he is excited to learn how to drive his new vehicle. More than the luxury of owning a car, he looks forward to using it to create new memories with his family through future road trips and outings.

The Jagat Coin Hunt campaign has become one of the country’s most talked-about interactive activities, encouraging participants to search real-world locations for tokens tied to prizes such as gadgets, cash, gaming consoles, and vehicles.

The campaign was held in collaboration with  BingoPlus, one of the country’s leading online entertainment platforms. During the awarding ceremony, Mallari also reminded fellow players about the importance of responsible gaming, encouraging people to enjoy games in moderation and prioritize their financial responsibilities.

From delivering parcels around the city to driving home in a brand-new hybrid SUV, Mallari’s story became a reminder that perseverance, timing, and a little bit of luck can sometimes change a person’s life overnight.
