BingoPlus Day Cebu Carnival was a two-part event that marked several major milestones for BingoPlus through a 10-million-peso donation from the BingoPlus Foundation to various communities affected by Typhoon Carina, the introduction of the country’s Chinita Princess, Kim Chiu, as BingoPlus’ newest brand ambassador, and an exciting grand raffle draw for the Golden Ticket Campaign.

To build up excitement for the Cebu Carnival, BingoPlus kicked off on July 26 with a motorcade where official mascot BingBing, BingoPlus hosts, and a drum and lyre majorette performed. BingoPlus also visited its five Cebu branches at Emall, Parkmall, Marina, Pueblo, and Mactan to inform and invite the public to watch the fun at the BingoPlus Day celebration.

BingoPlus Foundation’s pledge to typhoon Carina victims

BingoPlus Day Cebu Carnival opened with a heartfelt message to the families and individuals who were left devastated by the recent typhoon Carina. The BingoPlus Foundation had quickly responded to the need for aid across the country and began relief operations in Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon.

“As Typhoon Carina intensified into a super typhoon, we knew that this would leave us with a terrible aftermath,” said DigiPlus Vice President of Investor Relations, Corporate Communications, and Sustainability Celeste Jovenir. “As we speak, we are mobilizing immediate relief efforts and post-disaster rehabilitation in various parts of Metro Manila and affected provinces, in coordination with the DSWD, LGUs and organizations.”

Guided by one of its four advocacies, Community Safety and Resilience, the Foundation further said it would dedicate Php 10 million to those made vulnerable by the calamity. This response is an answer to the cry for help that has resounded throughout many areas in Luzon. Initially, the donation was set at Php 8 million but an additional Php 2 million was given at the end of the Cebu Carnival thanks to a crossover between the BingoPlus Foundation and Cornerstone.

“For the past few days, the Filipino people have witnessed how Metro Manila and other provinces in Luzon were flooded and affected by the recent typhoon Carina,” Andy Tsui, president of DigiPlus, had also given his own message about answering the call to action, “With different areas now in a state of calamity, DigiPlus has decided to answer the call for help to all affected communities and families through the BingoPlus Foundation.”

The Foundation functions as the social responsibility arm of DigiPlus, and works towards creating programs that contribute to nation-building efforts through a wide range of programs.

“As we advocate for community safety and resilience, this initiative affirms our commitment to help Filipinos who are most in need, especially during these hard times—in the spirit of bayanihan,” said President Jasper Vicencio of AB Leisure Exponent, Inc.

On top of providing aid to the victims of typhoon Carina, the Foundation had also made further donations to the community.

The Foundation announced three beneficiaries of this campaign during the Cebu Carnival celebration: The Department of Social Welfare and Development Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center, the Philippine Accessible Disability Services, and the Municipality Of Dumanjug, Cebu.
