A Brighter Space for Learning

In San Carlos City, Pangasinan, a meaningful step toward strengthening education has taken shape as Magtaking Elementary School welcomes a newly constructed school building from SM Foundation and SM Appliance Center. The turnover marks another milestone in the partners’ ongoing commitment to improving access to safe, comfortable, and inspiring learning environments for public school students under the Department of Education.

Serving more than 600 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6, Magtaking Elementary School stands as one of the top-performing schools in the division. With the support of 23 teachers, along with non-teaching and job order personnel, the school has consistently demonstrated excellence—not only in academics but also in campus journalism and community-driven initiatives. Its active participation in programs such as Brigada Eskwela and Gulayan sa Paaralan reflects a culture of collaboration, sustainability, and pride in education.

The newly turned-over facility directly addresses the need for additional classrooms, helping ease congestion while creating a more conducive space for both teaching and learning. School leaders shared that beyond improving physical conditions, the new building fosters motivation among students—encouraging them to perform better and engage more deeply in their studies.

Guided by its vision, “Shine Magtaking for Optimal Learning,” the school continues to shape learners who are not only academically capable but also grounded in strong values. The addition of this new building reinforces that mission, offering students a space where growth, discipline, and creativity can thrive.

Through initiatives like this, SM Foundation, together with its partners and the Department of Education, continues to invest in the future of Filipino youth—one classroom at a time.
