National University (NU), a proud member of the SM Group, is embarking on a major expansion of its campuses in Clark, Mall of Asia, Fairview, and its main campus in Sampaloc—an initiative that strengthens its commitment to bringing accessible, industry-ready education to more Filipino learners. Coinciding with NU’s 125th founding anniversary, the expansion marks a new chapter in its long-standing mission to democratize education for communities nationwide.
Dr. Renato Carlos Ermita Jr., NU President, underscored that the university’s strategic growth responds to increasing enrollment demands and shifting career landscapes. Clark, in particular, has emerged as NU’s fastest-growing campus due to its prime location and rising regional opportunities. Through these expansions, NU aims to equip more students with programs in Engineering, Architecture, Tourism, Psychology, Accountancy, and other high-demand fields.
Since joining the SM Group in 2008, NU has played a crucial role in the conglomerate’s vision of empowering Filipino families through education. Locating campuses within SM complexes provides students with seamless access to transportation, retail amenities, lifestyle services, and safe learning spaces—turning each campus into a complete and dynamic academic community.
Under the expansion blueprint, NU Clark will rise with a new academic tower designed for advanced laboratories and modern classrooms. NU Mall of Asia will add two floors to support its growing program offerings, while NU Fairview will construct another vertical facility to cater to increasing student enrollment. At the heart of Sampaloc, NU Manila will enhance its academic footprint with 24 new classrooms, faculty spaces, a learning resource center, and an auditorium—creating more environments for collaboration, research, and student development.
Serving more than 83,000 students across 14 campuses, NU is on track to reach 100,000 learners by 2027 with upcoming developments in Davao, Iloilo, and Urdaneta. Its partnership with SM Foundation continues to transform lives, already supporting over 570 full scholars and set to double within the year.
Beyond physical expansion, NU’s academic excellence remains evident. The university recently earned a QS 3 Stars rating, with a perfect 5 Stars in Employability, and continues to gain global recognition through the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for its contributions to SDG 8 and SDG 16.
As NU grows, one principle remains unchanged: a steadfast commitment to Education That Works—education that opens doors, creates opportunities, and builds a stronger, future-ready Philippines.
