A love story that began with tennis found its perfect soundtrack in Cavite when singer-songwriter James Reid unexpectedly appeared at the wedding reception of newlyweds Dariz Kho and Emman Pelayo.
Held at Ad Meliora Countryside Garden in Amadeo on September 21, the celebration already reflected the couple’s journey together. But the evening took an unexpected turn when Reid entered the reception, took the microphone, and serenaded the bride and groom in front of their family and friends.
The appearance was kept completely secret from the couple. Reid performed songs including the title track and “Attention” from his third studio album, Honey, I’m Home, released on September 10.
The intimate performance carried a fitting message for the occasion. The album explores the idea of home not simply as a physical place, but as the feeling of belonging created with people who matter—a theme that naturally complemented the beginning of Dariz and Emman’s married life.
Their relationship started far from a wedding venue. The two first crossed paths at the Camp Aguinaldo Tennis Court, where they shared the same coach. Their friendship eventually developed into romance, and they officially became a couple on January 7, 2024. Emman proposed on September 29, 2025.
With tennis playing such an important role in their relationship, the couple brought the sport into their wedding through a Wimbledon-inspired theme. Guests arrived in shades of white and green, while a glass garden pavilion provided an elegant countryside setting for the celebration.
Reid’s surprise appearance added another memorable chapter to the evening.
“It’s not something I usually get to do, but the timing just lined up this time,” Reid shared. “Hearing Dariz and Emman’s story, I was glad I could be a small part of their day.”
He added that seeing the couple’s happiness also made the experience special for him and wished them well as they began married life together.
Dariz expressed her appreciation for the unexpected performance, saying their guests were equally thrilled.
“Really grateful to James for doing this,” she said. “Our guests truly loved the experience. They can’t stop talking about it!”
From their first rallies on a tennis court to a Wimbledon-inspired wedding in the Cavite countryside, Dariz and Emman celebrated the beginning of married life surrounded by the people closest to them—with Reid providing an unexpected soundtrack to their own game, set, and match.
