
Effective communication across business, community development and digital platforms earned the SM Group 15 honors at the Philippine Quill Awards, highlighting the conglomerate’s efforts to strengthen its engagement with customers, communities, investors and other stakeholders.
Six of the 15 recognitions were Excellence Awards, with winning programs covering community relations, corporate social responsibility, financial education, customer engagement, investor relations, social media and digital communications.
Among the recognized SM companies were SM Investments Corporation, SM Foundation, SM Supermalls, BDO Unibank, Chinabank and Signature Series by SM Residences.
Frederic C. DyBuncio, President and Chief Executive Officer of SM Investments, emphasized that clear communication plays an important role in helping stakeholders understand the work of the Group and its relevance to their lives.

SM Foundation secured four awards, three of which were Excellence Awards. Its “Utilizing Social Good as a Force for Transformation” campaign earned Excellence honors in Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility. Its digital campaign, “#SpreadingSocialGood Stories Online: Transforming Lives Through Heartfelt Storytelling,” was recognized with an Excellence Award for Social Media. The foundation’s social good report also received recognition in the Publications category.
SM Foundation Executive Director Debbie Sy said communication helps expand the impact of development programs by informing communities about available opportunities, providing people with a voice and connecting partners with the organization’s social development mission.
BDO also collected four awards, including three Excellence Awards. Its financial education campaigns “Life Insurance: The Key to Heaven?” and “Tuloy ang Plano: Making Plan B a Family Necessity” were honored for Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication. “Your Child’s Dreams Need a Plan B” received an Excellence Award for Audio/Visual Communication, while BDO Remit’s “Alagang Kabayan: Where Every Kabayan Belongs” gained recognition in Social Media.

SM Investments, meanwhile, was recognized for SM In Focus, its group-wide online communications channel that uses YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to share timely information about SM’s businesses, programs and impact.
Chinabank received two awards for its investor relations and marketing communications initiatives, while Signature Series by SM Residences was honored for its premium residential living campaign.
Organized by the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines, the Philippine Quill Awards recognize outstanding communication programs and practices nationwide. This year, more than 800 entries were evaluated based on IABC standards, placing SM Group’s winning initiatives among the notable communications programs in the country.
