Globe has received the inaugural Golden Flame Partnership Award from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), recognizing the telecommunications company’s long-standing contribution to strengthening military communications, connectivity, and operational readiness.
Considered the AFP’s highest recognition for its partners, the award honors organizations whose sustained support has contributed to the military’s mission and capabilities. Globe was among 16 organizations recognized during the inaugural presentation and was the only telecommunications company included among the awardees.
The recognition builds on nearly three decades of cooperation between Globe and the AFP. Their partnership dates back to 1996, when both organizations entered into an agreement allowing the installation, operation, and maintenance of communications equipment within their respective facilities.
Over the years, the collaboration has evolved to address the AFP’s growing need for secure and resilient communications infrastructure. Globe’s contributions include support for the PAGASA Project and other initiatives designed to enhance mission-critical connectivity and improve coordination across military operations.

Globe was also the sole awardee nominated by the AFP Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Service (J6), highlighting the company’s role in supporting the military’s communications requirements.
“Globe is deeply honored to be among the first recipients of the AFP Golden Flame Partnership Award,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Service Planning and Engineering. He added that the recognition reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting mission-critical connectivity, operational readiness, national service, and nation-building.
The award was presented at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in a ceremony led by then-AFP Chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. The event was held alongside the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Award under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Other organizations recognized included Ayala Corporation, BDO, BDO Foundation, Metrobank, GMA Kapuso Foundation, Development Academy of the Philippines, Asia Pacific College, and the United States Joint United States Military Assistance Group.
As reliable digital communications become increasingly important to national security and emergency coordination, Globe said it will continue investing in resilient infrastructure and strategic partnerships that help institutions effectively serve communities and strengthen the country’s connectivity.
