SMFI responds to Pasig City fire victims

SM Foundation continued its commitment to helping communities in times of crisis by providing emergency assistance to families displaced by a recent fire in Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig City. Through its Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) disaster response program, the foundation distributed Kalinga Packs to 350 affected families, benefiting around 1,200 residents as they cope with the aftermath of the incident.

The fire, which broke out on the afternoon of July 29, 2026, rapidly spread through Rosemarie Lane and reached the third alarm, destroying more than 100 homes. Many of the affected residents have since been staying in evacuation centers while awaiting support and beginning the process of rebuilding their lives.

Despite challenging weather conditions, volunteers from SM Foundation, together with employees of SM Center Pasig, proceeded with the relief operation to ensure that families received immediate assistance. Each Kalinga Pack contained ready-to-eat food and bottled water, providing essential supplies for those temporarily displaced.

The relief effort highlights SM Foundation’s dedication to extending timely aid to communities affected by disasters and emergencies. Through Operation Tulong Express, the foundation continues to work closely with SM Supermalls and SM Markets to deliver immediate support wherever it is needed.

Over the years, OPTE has become SM Foundation’s primary disaster response initiative, reaching thousands of families across the country affected by fires, typhoons, floods, earthquakes, and other emergencies. By providing basic necessities during difficult times, the program helps ease the burden on affected communities while reinforcing the SM Group’s commitment to social responsibility and community resilience.
