Berde Renewables Expands Clean Energy Push with Major Solar and Battery Storage Alliance

(L–R): David Zhang, Head of Sales and Business Development at Solar Hive; Morris Zhou and Patrick Zhu, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of Berde Renewables; Michael Ruan, Regional Director for Southeast Asia at Sungrow Power; Tia Qin, Country Head of Sungrow Philippines; and Eason Liang, Account Manager of Sungrow Philippines.

Berde Renewables is strengthening its commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition in Southeast Asia through a strategic partnership with Sungrow Power and Solar Hive that will support the deployment of large-scale solar and battery storage projects in the Philippines and Thailand.

The collaboration is anchored on a Master Framework Agreement (MFA) that will enable Berde Renewables to procure 200 megawatts (MW) of solar inverter capacity and 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) over the next three years. The agreement is expected to enhance the company’s ability to deliver renewable energy solutions that are more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective for businesses seeking to reduce their dependence on traditional power sources.

Berde Renewables, a portfolio company of global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, views the partnership as a key step toward expanding its renewable energy footprint across the region. According to Berde Renewables Chief Executive Officer Patrick Zhu, the collaboration provides access to advanced technologies, stronger regional support, and greater operational scale, enabling the company to accelerate project delivery in both countries.

Zhu noted that integrating 200MW of solar capacity with 500MWh of battery storage represents a significant milestone, particularly for the Philippine market where demand is rising for flexible energy systems that can support grid reliability and resilience.

Through the partnership, Berde will leverage the renewable energy technologies of Sungrow Power, including solar inverters, battery energy storage solutions, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and smart energy management systems. Meanwhile, Solar Hive will serve as the regional distribution and support partner, providing logistics, technical assistance, spare parts availability, and after-sales services throughout the Philippines and Thailand.

Representatives from Sungrow and Solar Hive emphasized that the partnership is designed to accelerate the adoption of high-performance renewable energy systems across Southeast Asia. Both companies also expressed interest in expanding future collaboration beyond the two initial markets as regional demand for clean energy continues to grow.

Beyond equipment supply, the three companies plan to collaborate on technical training programs, certification initiatives, market development activities, stakeholder engagement efforts, and potential financing opportunities for selected renewable energy projects.

The partnership also reinforces Berde Renewables’ ability to help businesses lower electricity costs while improving energy reliability. By combining solar generation with battery storage, customers can better manage energy consumption, shift loads from daytime to evening hours, and benefit from enhanced grid stability.

Through its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) model, Berde Renewables finances, develops, owns, and operates solar facilities on behalf of customers during the contract period. At the end of the agreement, ownership of the renewable energy assets is transferred to the customer, providing a long-term pathway toward energy independence and sustainability.
