The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that will pave the way for the construction of Globe’s first on-campus cell site in Lucena. The project represents a significant milestone not only for the university but also for the broader effort to improve digital infrastructure across Southern Luzon.
As one of the most respected educational institutions in Quezon Province, MSEUF has long played an important role in nurturing future professionals through its accredited academic programs and commitment to academic excellence. The university is widely recognized for its strong information technology and criminology programs and is home to the largest library in the Southern Tagalog region.
With the new cell site, students, faculty members, and staff are expected to benefit from stronger and more dependable mobile connectivity. As educational institutions increasingly embrace digital platforms, cloud-based tools, and artificial intelligence applications, reliable internet access has become critical in supporting effective learning experiences.
The enhanced network infrastructure will enable students to access online classes, digital libraries, virtual learning environments, research databases, and academic resources with greater ease. It will also improve communication across the campus community, helping students, teachers, and administrators stay connected through digital channels.
The benefits, however, extend far beyond the university grounds.
Residents living near the campus are expected to experience improved mobile coverage, supporting everyday activities such as online communication, digital transactions, remote work, and access to information. Parents, commuters, and visitors in the area may also enjoy more reliable connectivity as a result of the new infrastructure.
Local businesses stand to gain as well. Small enterprises, food establishments, transport operators, and neighborhood merchants increasingly rely on digital platforms to engage customers and manage operations. Better connectivity can help these businesses expand their online presence, adopt digital payment systems, and participate more actively in the digital economy.
The project also contributes to stronger public service delivery. Improved network access can assist local government units and public institutions in emergency communications, disaster preparedness efforts, information dissemination, and digital service initiatives that benefit the wider community.
Beyond infrastructure development, Globe and MSEUF are exploring future collaborations focused on technology and workforce readiness. Potential initiatives include internships, mentorship programs, cybersecurity awareness, data analytics training, industry projects, and curriculum support designed to prepare students for careers in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The university will likewise become part of Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program, which promotes responsible digital citizenship, online safety, cybersecurity awareness, and the ethical use of technology among young Filipinos.
By combining educational advancement with digital infrastructure investment, the partnership reflects a shared vision of empowering communities through technology. More than simply improving mobile coverage, the initiative aims to create opportunities for learning, innovation, economic participation, and youth development—helping ensure that Lucena remains connected and ready for the future.
