CEdNet International: The Heartbeat of Godly Education in the Philippines

By Samuel Sumaoang, PhD

In a rapidly changing world, one truth stands firm: education shapes the soul of a nation. For the Christian Educators Network International (CEdNet International, Inc.), this truth has been its heartbeat since its launch in 2018 at Word of Hope, Quezon City. What began as a movement of passionate Christian educators has evolved into a SEC-registered, non-stock, non-profit organization, and now serves as the official education commission of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC).

A History Rooted in Service

CEdNet’s story is one of faith in action. Under the pioneering leadership of Dr. Blesilda “Mommy Bessie” Rios (2018–2020), the organization laid its foundations by establishing regional chapters across Cavite, Palawan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Bataan. When Dr. Samuel Sumaoang took the helm in 2020, CEdNet entered a new era—marked by digital innovation and nationwide reach.

At the height of the pandemic, when schools and churches faced closures and uncertainty, CEdNet rose as a beacon of hope. Through its First National Convention held online, it reached thousands of teachers, administrators, and pastors across the Philippines. But its care went beyond webinars—educators received free vitamins, Bibles, and teaching resources, reaffirming CEdNet’s belief that both the mind and the spirit must be nourished. Its signature program, Thank God It’s First Friday (TGIFF), became a monthly lifeline of prayer and encouragement for teachers navigating unprecedented times.

Standing Firm on Godly Principles

As a voice for Christian educators, CEdNet has not shied away from speaking truth to power. The organization has taken a principled stand against the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) framework, advocating instead for biblically grounded, family-affirming, and values-based education. Its position papers on issues such as teenage pregnancy and HIV awareness reflect both conviction and compassion—seeking to integrate faith, science, and social responsibility in meaningful ways.

Partnerships that Multiply Impact

CEdNet’s influence continues to grow through partnerships that embody the Filipino spirit of bayanihan. Collaborating with institutions such as World Vision, Compassion International, Philippine Bible Society, OMF Literature, Light TV – God’s Channel of Blessings, YWAM Impact, Bagong Pag-Asa Ministry, and the National Coalition for the Family and the Constitution (NCFC), among others, CEdNet extends its reach to both private and public schools, including partnerships with Schools Division Offices in Malabon and San Juan City.

Today, CEdNet proudly counts nearly a hundred member schools and affiliate organizations, including ACSAC, MMP, CPAPS, FPCEITI, ISAAL, MARVAL, and PGPA—a growing community united by one cause: godly education for national transformation.

Flourishing Together for a Godly Nation

CEdNet’s mission is clear and enduring: to equip, serve, and support teachers who will, in turn, raise flourishing students and build a flourishing nation. Every initiative—whether a professional training, advocacy campaign, or wellness retreat—carries one consistent message: Teachers Matter.

As it celebrates milestones and forges ahead, CEdNet International stands firm in its calling—to champion godliness in Philippine education and ensure that every classroom becomes not just a place of knowledge, but a space of wisdom, virtue, and hope.

Let’s build a godly nation together.
