The SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena is set to cement its place in sporting history as it takes center stage for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, happening from September 12 to 28. For the first time, the Philippines will welcome 32 of the world’s best volleyball teams—including homegrown pride Alas Pilipinas—in what promises to be one of the most electrifying events of the year.
Raising the Bar in Preparation
In anticipation of the championship, the MOA Arena has undergone intensive preparations to match the prestige of the global stage. Beyond structural upgrades, the focus has been on training people to deliver service at par with international standards.

With support from the Department of Tourism, more than 180 arena staff completed the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence program on August 17, ensuring that both local and foreign guests experience world-class hospitality. Complementing this, the venue’s Customer Relations Service Department rolled out refresher courses on Basic First Aid, Crowd Control, Emergency Response, and Customer Care—key areas that will keep athletes and fans safe while enhancing their overall event experience.
The Arena also boasts a technological leap with the debut of its new centerhung, “The Cube.” Unveiled earlier this year, the $2.1 million jumbotron is three times larger than its predecessor, featuring superior resolution, split-screen displays, and real-time data integration. This upgrade guarantees spectators an immersive experience comparable to the world’s most iconic arenas.

Bringing the Energy Nationwide
But the celebration extends beyond the venue. In true SM fashion, the excitement of the FIVB Men’s World Championship has been brought closer to fans across the country.
On August 13, the SM Group kicked off the nationwide campaign at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, setting the tone with music, games, and volleyball-themed festivities. Adding to the anticipation, the championship trophy embarked on a nationwide tour, making stops at SM Seaside City Cebu, SM City Laoag, and culminating with a grand showcase at SM CDO Downtown on August 30.

These activations highlight SM’s commitment not just as a host, but as a catalyst for community engagement—allowing Filipino fans from Luzon to Mindanao to feel the thrill of the global tournament.
Star-Studded Opening and Finale
The excitement reaches a fever pitch on September 12, when Alas Pilipinas battles Tunisia in the highly anticipated opening match. Fans are in for a treat with a special performance by rising K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, infusing music and energy into the historic opening night.

As the tournament builds toward its climax, volleyball legend Leila Barros will grace the finals on September 27 and 28, adding inspiration and prestige to the event’s closing chapter.
A Historic First for the Philippines
Hosting the FIVB Men’s World Championship is more than just another milestone for MOA Arena—it is a moment of pride for the Philippines. With world-class facilities, state-of-the-art technology, and a commitment to hospitality, the Arena reaffirms its reputation as the country’s leading venue for global entertainment and sporting events.
