
Watsons Philippines, a prominent health and beauty retailer under the SM Group, concluded 2024 with a total of 1,166 stores nationwide. This expansion included the opening of 80 new outlets, with over 50 situated outside Metro Manila, underscoring the company’s commitment to broadening its reach.
A significant highlight for the year was the inauguration of Watsons’ 8,000th Asian store at the SM Mall of Asia in Manila. Dr. Malina Ngai, Group CEO of AS Watson Group, emphasized the importance of the Philippines in their global strategy, noting the country’s dynamic economy and youthful population with a growing interest in health and beauty.

Since its Philippine debut in 2002, through a joint venture between the SM Group and Hong Kong-based A.S. Watson & Co. Ltd., Watsons has significantly increased its footprint. The brand’s expansion into community pharmacies began in 2015 with its first store in Pateros. By the end of 2024, Watsons operated 400 community stores across the nation, making healthcare and beauty products more accessible to local neighborhoods.
Looking ahead, Watsons Philippines plans to continue its growth trajectory by opening 90 new stores in 2025, further solidifying its presence and commitment to serving the diverse needs of Filipino consumers.
