In a space usually defined by color swatches and textured finishes, art took center stage. At the Sinclair Pro Store in Del Monte, Quezon City, creativity flowed not from a single canvas but from walls, panels, and sculpted surfaces as Magna Prime Chemical Technologies, Inc. marked its 25th anniversary and National Arts Month with the Sinclair National Art Competition.
What began as a nationwide call for entries evolved into a celebration of material and imagination. Artists from across the Philippines embraced Sinclair Makaw Microcement Lime Plaster and Effect Paints not merely as tools, but as partners in expression. Their works demonstrated that paint is no longer confined to flat pigment on walls—it can carve texture, create movement, and evoke emotion through layers of depth and light.

For Derrick A. Tan, President and CEO of Magna Prime, the competition represents more than an anniversary milestone. It is a statement about the evolving relationship between art, architecture, and interior design. By introducing decorative finishes into fine art practice, the initiative encourages artists to explore new dimensions while supporting a growing decorative wall design industry—one that merges sustainability, craftsmanship, and livelihood opportunities.
Guiding the selection process was Head Judge Maestro Eleazar Abraham “Abe” L. Orobia, who evaluated entries based on creativity, technical mastery, and innovative use of materials. His standards ensured that each winning piece reflected both artistic integrity and material excellence.

In the Canvas Obra category, traditional fine art found new life through Makaw’s textured finishes. John Paul Verdera Antido claimed first place with The Tide is Coming In

A roster of talented finalists further underscored the category’s depth, each contributing distinct interpretations of texture and narrative.Meanwhile, the Wall Obra category transformed architectural surfaces into immersive storytelling spaces.
