Manulife and iCare Strengthen Filipino Employee Wellness

Strategic partnership brings together healthcare benefits and life insurance protection to support Filipino workers and their families.

As Filipino employees place greater importance on their health, financial stability, and long-term well-being, companies are looking for more comprehensive benefits that go beyond traditional healthcare coverage.

Responding to this growing demand, Manulife Philippines and iCare HMO have formed a strategic partnership designed to provide businesses with more integrated solutions that protect both the health and financial future of their workforce.

The collaboration will make Manulife’s group life insurance available to select corporate clients of iCare HMO, complementing their existing healthcare benefits. The annually renewable insurance coverage offers employers an additional way to strengthen employee protection while helping workers and their families prepare for unexpected financial challenges.

Addressing the Changing Needs of Filipino Employees

The partnership reflects a broader shift in how Filipinos approach personal wellness and financial security.

According to Manulife’s Asia Care Survey, consumers are becoming increasingly conscious of preventive healthcare, healthier lifestyles, and financial independence.

In the Philippines, 88% of survey respondents identified independence and financial freedom as the legacy they hope to leave their loved ones, emphasizing the importance of combining healthcare protection with sound financial planning.

Rahul Hora, President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Philippines, emphasized that the collaboration supports the company’s mission of helping Filipinos achieve healthier and more financially secure lives.

He explained that combining Manulife’s life insurance expertise with iCare’s healthcare solutions creates opportunities to make essential protection more accessible to Filipino employees.

Meanwhile, Geronimo V. Francisco, President and Chief Executive Officer of iCare, highlighted the importance of developing employee benefits that address both immediate medical concerns and long-term financial needs.

Expanding Protection Through Innovative Solutions

Beyond traditional group insurance offerings, both companies are working toward more convenient and accessible protection products.

Beginning November 2026, the partnership plans to introduce group life insurance benefits into selected iCare HMO prepaid cards, providing customers with additional financial protection alongside healthcare services.

The companies are also establishing a two-way distribution arrangement that will allow them to introduce complementary products through their respective authorized channels and corporate networks.

Future initiatives will explore integrated group life insurance, medical coverage, and broader employee benefit packages tailored to Philippine businesses.

Building a Healthier and More Secure Workforce

For employers, the partnership presents an opportunity to enhance employee welfare programs while supporting workforce confidence, productivity, and financial resilience.

For Filipino workers, it represents a more coordinated approach to protecting their families against health-related and financial uncertainties.

Through their combined expertise, Manulife Philippines and iCare HMO aim to help reshape employee benefits by making healthcare and financial protection work together.

As workplace expectations continue to evolve, the collaboration reinforces an important message: true employee wellness means protecting not only physical health but also the financial security of individuals and their families.
