Financial Education Gains Momentum Among Filipino Learners

SmarTrade continues its mission of accessible financial education, hosting a record-breaking seminar on online trading with 57 participants in Makati.

SmarTrade expands free seminars and mentorship programs as more Filipinos seek practical knowledge about online trading and financial markets.

As financial awareness becomes increasingly important in everyday life, more Filipinos are showing interest in understanding investment opportunities, online trading, and the risks associated with financial markets.

This growing curiosity is creating new opportunities for financial education providers such as SmarTrade, which continues to help individuals develop essential market knowledge through free seminars, mentorship programs, and community-based learning activities.

According to the company, its educational initiatives have reached more than 50,000 learners through 2,915 sessions conducted across 765 locations nationwide.

The increasing demand for financial knowledge is particularly evident in SmarTrade’s monthly office seminars. Average attendance climbed by 46.67 percent, rising from 15 participants per session in 2025 to 22 in 2026, based on figures recorded through October.

A recent seminar, “Foundations of Online Trading: A Beginner’s Guide to Currency Trading,” attracted 57 participants, marking a new attendance record for the program.

The event brought together students, working professionals, entrepreneurs, and first-time learners from Metro Manila and nearby provinces, reflecting the widening interest in financial literacy among different sectors.

Learning Before Entering the Market

Leading the discussions were Ed Saguibo, SmarTrade’s Head of Learning and Development, and Gab Santos, a market analyst with a decade of industry experience.

The speakers introduced participants to the fundamentals of currency trading, market movements, analytical techniques, and risk management.

Saguibo emphasized that understanding financial markets should come before making trading decisions.

“Our goal is to give learners a clearer foundation by discussing both the opportunities and the risks involved in online trading,” he explained.

Santos likewise highlighted the value of discipline, market awareness, and continuous education in helping individuals approach trading more responsibly.

Participants actively engaged in discussions, with several remaining after the scheduled program to ask additional questions about market behavior and trading strategies.

For beginners, the session offered an opportunity to explore unfamiliar financial concepts in a more accessible learning environment.

Making Financial Knowledge More Accessible

Beyond its office seminars, SmarTrade continues to strengthen its educational outreach through university partnerships, online training, and its Online Trading Mastery Series.

These initiatives are designed to accommodate learners with different levels of experience while extending financial education opportunities beyond major urban centers.

Through its free learning sessions and mentorship programs, SmarTrade aims to encourage Filipinos to develop financial awareness, recognize potential risks, and make better-informed decisions.

As interest in financial markets continues to expand, the company believes that accessible education can play an important role in building a more financially knowledgeable Filipino community.
