TESDA, AMA Strengthen Skills Development Through WorldSkills Philippines 2026

Young Filipino talents are putting their technical abilities to the test as the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and AMA Education System (AMAES) continue their collaboration in developing a workforce equipped for an increasingly technology-driven global economy.

Their partnership takes another step forward through WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026, the country’s premier national skills competition, being held from September 7 to 11, 2026, at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.

Around 350 competitors representing TESDA’s 18 regional offices are participating in the event after qualifying through their respective Regional Skills Olympics. Under the theme “Your Skills, Your Future,” participants are competing across 30 industry-driven skill areas that showcase technical expertise, creativity, precision, and problem-solving abilities.

Beyond competition, WorldSkills Philippines serves as an important platform for identifying and developing young Filipinos who have the potential to compete at international standards. It also highlights the growing importance of aligning education and technical training with the evolving requirements of industries.

For AMA Education System, supporting the WorldSkills initiative reflects its longstanding focus on technology-based education and preparing students for future employment opportunities.

“The Filipino has always had the talent to compete with the best in the world. What our young people need are the right education, training, technology and opportunities to demonstrate what they can do,” said Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of AMA Education System.

Aguiluz emphasized that education must anticipate emerging technologies and equip students with skills that will remain relevant as industries continue to transform.

AMA’s involvement with WorldSkills was further highlighted in 2025 when AMA Computer University, Inc. joined more than 30 industry and educational partners supporting the Philippines’ hosting of the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025.

Founded by Aguiluz in 1980, when computer education was still relatively new in the Philippines, AMA has continued to focus on technology and skills development as key components of education.

Through initiatives such as WorldSkills Philippines Clark 2026, the partnership between TESDA and AMAES demonstrates how cooperation among government, educational institutions, and industry can help create more opportunities for Filipino youth.

For hundreds of competitors in Clark, the event is more than a chance to win medals. It is an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, gain valuable experience, and take another step toward becoming globally competitive professionals.

As technology continues to reshape industries and workplaces, developing practical and future-ready skills will remain essential—and initiatives such as WorldSkills provide young Filipinos with a platform to turn their abilities into opportunities.
