Mindanao’s expanding industries and growing economic opportunities are creating greater demand for reliable transportation and logistics networks that can connect businesses, communities, and markets across the Philippines.
At the 35th Mindanao Business Conference in Cagayan de Oro City, 2GO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the region’s development through an integrated network of freight, logistics, and passenger services.
Speaking during the conference on August 12, 2GO Group Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer William Howell emphasized that connectivity will play a central role in unlocking Mindanao’s full economic potential.
“When we talk about the future of the Philippine economy, Mindanao is not a peripheral story,” Howell said, citing the region’s contributions to agriculture and fisheries, energy, manufacturing, mining, exports, and tourism.
Howell identified industry, growth engines, connectivity, and tourism as four strategic pillars that can strengthen Mindanao’s economic advantage. Among these, connectivity serves as a link that enables farmers to reach markets, manufacturers to serve customers, exporters to access gateways, and communities to participate in wider economic opportunities.
“Connectivity is not merely about moving goods and passengers. It is about enabling commerce, expanding access, attracting investments, and strengthening communities,” Howell said.
2GO is supporting these connections through its nationwide transportation and logistics infrastructure. Its forwarding network currently includes 93 distribution hubs and warehouses across the country, with 18 located in Mindanao. These facilities handle approximately 1.5 million packages, equivalent to around 150,000 transactions annually in the region.
Sea transportation is another major part of the network. Through 2GO Sea Solutions, the company serves Mindanao ports in Cagayan de Oro, Ozamiz, Butuan, Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, and Zamboanga as part of its 20-port nationwide network.
In 2025, 2GO transported approximately 2.5 million metric tons of cargo to, from, and within Mindanao, supporting businesses that depend on efficient movement of agricultural products, manufactured goods, and other commodities.
The company also provides specialized logistics services, including cold-chain solutions for food and agricultural products, project logistics for major developments, e-commerce logistics, and cross-docking services designed to accelerate cargo movement.
Beyond freight, passenger mobility remains an important part of Mindanao’s connectivity. 2GO Travel operates 36 active passenger routes nationwide, including 18 routes with Mindanao connections. Its network provides 37 weekly voyages linking the region with destinations in Luzon and the Visayas.
These routes help entrepreneurs, workers, families, and tourists access employment, business, and travel opportunities across the archipelago.
2GO’s participation in the Mindanao Business Conference also reflects its continuing engagement with government agencies, chambers of commerce, and industry stakeholders. Earlier this year, the company joined the Mindanao Development Authority and the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry in discussions focused on logistics challenges and opportunities in the region.
As Mindanao develops into an increasingly important center for trade, production, investment, and tourism, stronger connections will remain essential to sustaining its momentum.
By integrating sea freight, forwarding, specialized logistics, and passenger travel, 2GO aims to help move not only goods and people, but also opportunities—supporting Mindanao’s next chapter of inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
