Martino, Chief Operating Officer, during the signing of the strategic credit facility agreement between Discovery Capital Finance Corp. and BDO Unibank, reinforcing their shared commitment to expanding access to financing and supporting business growth across the Philippines.
Discovery Capital Finance Corp. (DCFC) is strengthening its capacity to serve businesses across the Philippines after securing a credit facility from BDO Unibank, Inc., giving the non-bank financing company additional resources to support its nationwide expansion and growing loan portfolio.
The agreement brings together BDO’s financial strength and Discovery Capital’s technology-driven lending operations, creating a funding channel designed to reach enterprises in both established commercial centers and emerging provincial markets.
For Discovery Capital, the facility represents an important step in its growth strategy as it expands its presence across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. The company has positioned itself as an alternative source of financing for businesses seeking accessible and responsive credit solutions, particularly those requiring capital for expansion, equipment acquisition, and day-to-day operations.
Technology plays a major role in the company’s approach. Discovery Capital operates a digitized lending infrastructure covering customer applications, credit assessment, underwriting, loan processing, and administration. By integrating technology throughout the lending process, the company aims to provide faster turnaround while maintaining appropriate credit evaluation and risk management standards.
Its omnichannel distribution network also allows the company to serve customers beyond Metro Manila. This regional presence is expected to become increasingly important as more businesses in developing economic centers seek financing to support expansion.
Discovery Capital President and Chief Executive Officer Diosdado C. Salang, Jr. said the BDO credit line will provide additional funding capacity as the company broadens its reach.
“Through this partnership with the country’s number one bank, we can further cater to and expand our market throughout the country,” Salang said.
He added that the financing will help Discovery Capital strengthen its presence in regional growth areas while responding directly to the capital requirements of local enterprises.
The company is also preparing for a bigger physical footprint. Discovery Capital plans to establish additional satellite offices across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, with 10 more offices projected to open nationwide by 2027.
Beyond geographical expansion, the company is looking to diversify its lending business. Among its planned initiatives is an expansion into real estate loan offerings, providing another potential growth segment for its portfolio.
The partnership comes as access to financing remains important for Philippine micro, small, and medium enterprises, which account for the overwhelming majority of businesses in the country and provide millions of jobs. For many companies, particularly those operating outside major urban centers, timely access to capital can determine their ability to purchase equipment, increase inventory, expand facilities, or enter new markets.
With additional funding from BDO, Discovery Capital intends to channel more financing toward these business requirements while continuing to strengthen its technology, governance, compliance, and risk management systems.
The credit facility signals a new stage in Discovery Capital’s development—from a rapidly expanding financing company into a broader nationwide financial partner for Philippine enterprises.
As it works toward its 2027 expansion targets, Discovery Capital is banking on a combination of institutional funding, digital lending capabilities, and stronger regional presence to bring financing closer to businesses and contribute to economic activity and job creation across the country.
