SM Prime Holdings Inc. is strengthening its collaboration with government agencies to improve everyday mobility across the Greater Manila Area, transforming its malls into key access points within the urban transport network. By aligning infrastructure development with commuter needs, the company is helping create more seamless and efficient travel experiences for millions of Filipinos.
According to SM Prime President Jeffrey C. Lim, mobility plays a crucial role in national progress. He noted that the partnership with government began during the pandemic, when improving public transport access became an urgent priority. Today, many of these initiatives have taken shape, offering practical solutions to long-standing commuting challenges.
One of the most significant projects is the planned direct pedestrian link between the LRT-2 Antipolo Station and SM City Masinag. Backed by an investment of over ₱300 million, the covered walkway will provide commuters with safe and weather-protected access between the station and the mall. Designed with inclusivity and safety in mind, the link will feature ramps, elevators, lighting, and CCTV systems—minimizing the need for street-level crossings while reducing travel time. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with completion targeted within six months under a public-private partnership with the Light Rail Transit Authority.

Earlier efforts have already delivered results, including the SM North EDSA Busway Concourse, which opened in March 2025. Equipped with covered walkways, escalators, and elevators, the facility provides direct access to the EDSA Busway, improving passenger flow and convenience.
Building on this model, SM Prime is currently developing a similar concourse at SM Megamall, with the northbound section expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2026.
Beyond physical infrastructure, SM Prime is also enhancing the commuter experience through digital innovation. In partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, select mall directories now display live traffic feeds from the MMDA’s AI Traffic Management System—allowing commuters to plan routes more efficiently.
Through these integrated efforts, SM Prime continues to redefine how urban spaces can support smarter, more connected journeys.
