A new chapter in local business leadership unfolded in San Juan City as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – San Juan City (PCCI San Juan) formally inducted its 2026 officers and welcomed new members during a ceremonial gathering at the newly opened Theater on the fourth floor of the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center. The event marked the installation of Philip “Phil” Lirag as the Chamber’s new president, signaling the beginning of a leadership term focused on collaboration, business growth, and stronger engagement within the city’s enterprise community.
The induction ceremony brought together an influential mix of leaders from the private sector, government, and civic organizations. The oath of office for the newly elected officers and board of directors was administered by San Juan City Mayor Francisco “Francis” Zamora, whose presence highlighted the strong partnership between the city government and the local business sector. The ceremony also marked the formal transition of leadership from outgoing president Van William Co to Lirag and his new team.

Representatives from the national and regional levels of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the gathering, along with leaders from neighboring PCCI chapters and various industry groups. Their presence reflected the Chamber’s broader network of support and the shared goal of promoting economic development through cooperation between businesses and institutions.
In his inaugural message, Lirag emphasized that leadership within the Chamber carries both privilege and responsibility. He acknowledged the work of his predecessor, noting that the organization’s credibility and relevance were built through years of dedication and collective effort.

According to Lirag, the strength of San Juan’s economy lies in the diverse businesses that operate within the city. From neighborhood enterprises to larger corporations, each plays a role in shaping a vibrant local economy that generates employment and opportunities for residents.
He described San Juan as a city driven by entrepreneurs, professionals, and workers who share a commitment to building a better future for their communities. Small businesses, he said, serve as the lifeblood of local neighborhoods, while medium and large companies help expand the city’s economic reach through job creation and investment.

Looking ahead, the new president outlined several priorities for the Chamber’s 2026 term. These include strengthening the value of membership through expanded networking and learning opportunities, building stronger collaboration with the city government and other stakeholders, and supporting initiatives that promote sustainable and inclusive business growth.

Particular attention will be given to programs that assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), helping them adapt to an increasingly competitive and digital business environment. By fostering knowledge sharing and partnerships, the Chamber hopes to help local enterprises navigate new opportunities while addressing the challenges of a changing marketplace.
Lirag also stressed that the success of the Chamber depends on the active participation of its members. He described PCCI San Juan not simply as an organization led by its officers, but as a collaborative platform where ideas, experiences, and partnerships come together.
Following the induction ceremony, officers, members, and guests gathered for a dinner gala that celebrated the beginning of the Chamber’s new leadership term. The evening provided an opportunity for business leaders and partners to strengthen connections while reaffirming their shared commitment to San Juan’s economic progress.
With its new officers officially installed, PCCI San Juan moves forward with a renewed sense of purpose—working to cultivate stronger partnerships and initiatives that support the continued growth and resilience of the city’s business community.
