When the results of the January 2026 Architect Licensure Examination were released by the Professional Regulation Commission, one name marked not just a professional victory but a personal reinvention—Riza Villarosa. Her success represents more than passing a board exam; it signals the completion of a journey defined by courage, discipline, and the willingness to begin again.
Riza’s story did not start in a design studio but in the corporate towers of the financial world. A 2013 graduate of De La Salle University with a degree in Management of Financial Institutions, she spent five years in the structured environment of a multinational firm. There, she developed a strong foundation in strategy, systems, and accountability—skills far removed from drafting tables and design plates, yet quietly preparing her for a future she had long imagined.
In 2018, she chose to pivot. Leaving behind a stable corporate path, Riza enrolled in the architecture program at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She immersed herself in the demanding five-year academic curriculum, followed by a two-year apprenticeship that refined her technical expertise and creative discipline. The transition required humility and resilience, but it reaffirmed her commitment to building spaces that shape lives and communities.

Today, as a newly licensed architect, Riza steps into R. Villarosa Architects, the firm founded in 1972 by her grandfather, Architect Rogelio Villarosa. Under the mentorship of her father, Architect Roy Villarosa, she becomes the third generation to carry the family legacy forward. The firm’s portfolio includes landmark collaborations with major developers and institutions across the country.
Yet Riza’s voice within the practice is distinctly her own—blending financial insight with architectural vision. In an industry that continues to evolve, she represents a new blueprint: one where legacy meets fresh perspective, and where reinvention becomes the foundation of lasting impact.
