A quiet yet meaningful transformation has begun within the historic grounds of the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City, where leaders of tomorrow are shaped through discipline, service, and shared purpose. The recent groundbreaking of the Henry Sy Sr. Hall signals more than the start of a construction project—it reflects a renewed vision for strengthening the Academy’s role in preparing cadets for the evolving demands of national leadership.
Supported by SM Prime Holdings, Inc., the initiative forms part of the PMA’s long-term Growth Plan, which aims to expand the Cadet Corps to 2,000 members by 2040. Central to this vision is the development of modern facilities that match the scale of responsibility entrusted to future officers, while reinforcing the Academy’s position as a cornerstone of defense education and a potential hub for disaster response across Northern Luzon.
The planned two-story Henry Sy Sr. Hall will serve as a vital gathering space for the PMA community. Designed to host up to 2,500 individuals, the multipurpose structure will accommodate training programs, ceremonial events, and indoor athletic activities—creating an environment where leadership can be practiced not only in theory, but in daily interaction and collaboration. Architectural features tailored to Baguio’s cool climate and the Academy’s long-term needs underscore a commitment to durability, comfort, and purposeful design, with completion targeted for 2028.
For over a century, the PMA has produced men and women who dedicate their lives to service in the armed forces, government, and communities nationwide. As the challenges facing the country grow more complex, investments in shared spaces and learning environments become essential. Through partnerships that unite public purpose and private support, the Academy continues to build not only structures of stone and steel, but foundations of character meant to endure for generations.
