A New Chapter for Sun Life Philippines

Benedict Sison, CEO and Country Head of Sun Life Philippines Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc.

Sun Life Philippines is preparing to turn a new page as it announces a major leadership transition that reflects both continuity and renewal. After 15 years of dedicated service, Benedict Sison will retire as Chief Executive Officer and Country Head, leaving behind a legacy defined by growth, innovation, and industry leadership. Taking the helm on April 1, 2026 is Jonathan Juan “JJ” Moreno, who currently serves as President of Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc.

Sison’s journey with Sun Life has been marked by steady progress and meaningful impact. Since becoming CEO and Country Head in 2018, he has helped the company maintain its position as the number one life insurer in the Philippines. Under his leadership, Sun Life grew its client base to more than 6.2 million Filipinos and expanded its advisor network to over 22,000 strong. Beyond business growth, Sison championed innovation through new investment and trust services, while also strengthening Sun Life’s social mission through the Sun Life Foundation.

Even as he steps down from his executive role, Sison will remain closely involved, serving as strategic advisor and Chairman of both the Sun Life Philippines Holding Company and the Sun Life Foundation until the end of 2026—ensuring stability during the transition.

Moreno enters his new role with a diverse leadership background shaped by more than two decades across financial services, retail, telecom, healthcare, and transportation. Since joining Sun Life in May 2025, he has worked closely with the local leadership team, gaining a deep understanding of the company’s purpose and people.

For Moreno, the appointment is both an honor and a responsibility. He has expressed commitment to building on Sun Life’s strong foundation—helping more Filipinos secure their financial future and live healthier lives, while fostering a workplace that values innovation, sustainability, and people-first leadership.

This transition signals not an end, but a continuation—where experience meets fresh perspective. With a respected leader passing the torch and a new one ready to carry it forward, Sun Life Philippines steps confidently into its next chapter, guided by the same mission: to help Filipinos achieve lifetime financial security and well-being.
