Honesty That Speaks Louder Than Words

In an age where integrity is often tested, a quiet act of honesty at Hotel Sogo Santolan has reminded many that trust remains alive in everyday workplaces. On the morning of December 5, 2025, a routine task turned into a defining moment for room guide Raymond Tobasco, whose decision reflected values beyond duty.

At around 8:40 a.m., while conducting standard room checks, Tobasco discovered a gray body bag hidden inside a cabinet in Room 273. Inside was a large amount of cash—later confirmed to be more than ₱400,000—left behind by a guest. Without hesitation, he followed company protocol and immediately reported the find to his supervisors.

What followed was a careful and transparent process. Under the supervision of hotel officials, including Supervisor Mr. Paulo and Leadman Mr. Jeric, the cash was counted thoroughly, with the procedure documented on video to ensure accuracy and accountability. Once verified, the money was formally turned over to the Cash and Property Management Supervisor for safekeeping while awaiting its rightful owner.

For Hotel Sogo Santolan, the incident was not treated as an isolated event, but as a reflection of its workplace culture. The brand’s core values—particularly courtesy and discipline—are embedded in daily operations, guiding employees on how to act even when no one is watching. Tobasco’s calm and principled response demonstrated how these values translate into real-world actions.

Hotel Manager Melchor A. Borata expressed pride in his employee’s conduct, noting that such honesty reinforces the trust guests place in the establishment. He emphasized that discipline is not merely a slogan within the organization, but a lived principle practiced across branches.

More than a story about lost and found money, the incident stands as a reminder that integrity remains a powerful currency—one that builds confidence, strengthens reputation, and quietly defines the character of an organization through the actions of its people.
